Visit the Cape Romain Lighhouse and the Georgetown Light individually or perhaps consider combining both of these unique lighthouses into one enjoyable personalized boat excursion along the South Carolina coastal lowcountry. Both of these 19th Century lights are currently listed on the National Register of historic places and are an important part of our local history.

The 1827 tower is the oldest existing one of its kind in the country and together with its replacement light built in 1857 they still stand as a tribute to the men who used them to guide their travels.

The first shots of the Civil War were fired at Fort Sumter in Charleston harbor just south of the Cape Romain light. Shortly after the start of the war confederate troops extinquished the light and removed the lens to prevent it's use by Union forces.

The Georgetown light was used as a lookout station by Confederate forces during the early stages of the war until captured by Union Army. During the conflict the light was badly damaged and when repairs were undertaken after the war the light was heightened to it's present 87 feet..
